Why to wait until be 21 to drink?

In the article "Drinking age" Ross states that the major issue is not allowing 18 to 20 year old teenagers to drink since the legal age to drink in the United States is 21. In my opinion, I agree with Ross’ comment mainly because I lived in South America when I was 18 and I was allowed to drink and therefore, I forced myself to be more conscious of my acts. I think that by allowing 18 to 20 year old teenagers to drink, teenagers will become more responsible. I even think that car accidents, smuggling, and any other issues associated with teenager’s misdemeanor because of alcohol consumption will reduce. Moreover, by allowing teenagers above 18 to drink, Texas Government has a chance to provide further education to our young people above the use of the alcohol and its consequences. Our major goal as citizens is to do our best to prevent and reduce any type of harm to our society even if it leads the Texas Government to change its current law.

What About Inmates?

In my last comment about inmates, I explained that the Texas Government is planning to cut out the possibility for inmates to get an education while being in prison. Moreover, it has been clearly seen that ex- convicts have a hard time finding a job. In most cases, ex-convicts cannot even renew their licenses for certain work types. The Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation has been rejecting many applications coming from ex-offenders. Law judges feel reluctant to approve a lot of these applications because they fear that by letting ex-convicts to work, our society is in danger. As a consequence of not having a job, ex-offenders do not have enough money to support their families. A lot of the poverty that the Texas Government sees in our society is associated to the very low or zero income of ex-convicts since they are also part of our community.

I think that everyone in our society deserve a second chance. The lack of opportunity for ex-offenders to get a decent job really does not allow ex-convicts to be fully part of our society and have chance to show us all that they are potential contributors for a better society. Therefore, I clearly think that the only thing that the Texas government might cause is to increase the probability of having ex-offender back into crime just in seek of more money. I think the best solution is to give ex-convicts a chance to get a decent job and let them show us all their positive contribution to society.

What a Huge Mistake!

In the article "Allowing Concealed Handguns on a University Campus," Becca states that it will be a huge mistake if Eddie Rodriguez, State representative, achieves to let universities to allow concealed handguns on campus. My opinion on this situation is the same as Beccan. It is quite clear that the majority of students in universities are under twenty five years. Students around this age tend to be more emotional driven than older people. In the recent years, we all have seen or heard of the occurrence of terrible incidents associated with students holding a gun and taking the life of people and theirs itself. By allowing concealed handgun on campus, the number of deadly incidents in universities such as suicides will tend to increase since the weapon to commit the crime is available to everyone.
In a different perspective, Becca also points out that the author from the original article contradicts himself by explaining that there are more dangerous places such as bars. Becca argues that students attend parties regularly in which the use of alcohol might lead to the occurrence of unpredictable fights still putting in danger the life of university students. Becca states that in the original article there are laws that can take place. I totally think that it would be a deadly combination to allow concealed handguns on university Campus in the presence of a large population of young students.

Education to inmates

Everybody has the right of an education but why if the ones that need it and have the opportunity to pay after a period of time do not do it? The U.S national government ought to do something according to this issue that affects inmates and citizens. Senates from criminal justice and education did not know about this issue and point it out in this article, in which they declare how is affecting the economy in the state of Texas and how much have been investing in the past ten years. According to the article, the state has been investing approximately $26.9 million to educate more than 22,000 students but only 6,630 have paid to the state. In my opinion, give to inmates an education is a great idea because it will help them to get a regular social life when they get out of prison, but the point here is that there must be some law or a cut out because most of them do not pay back. As I said above, as a student I will have to pay all my loans plus interests when I finished my bachelors if I do not do it my credit will decrease tremendously and I wont be able to get any loans or any financial help in the future. What government should do is a way in which inmates can attend classes to get their associates, certificate or bachelors but by offering them a job after they finished their sentence in prison or simply, create a mandatory job inside the jail to start paying for tuition.
Education is one of the most precious gift that a human being can have due it help to the society and to the person. But there must be a balance when we are talking about investing in education and not just wait for many years and see that all the money invested was a total mistake but by creating ways in help the needs of the people that really want to reach this opportunity and also applying laws to pay what they have achieved.

Always Ask!

In the article “You say you love catfish? How safe do you think it is to eat?” The author highlights how Government is not paying enough attention to the high volume of imported catfish without being inspected properly. Here, Hager mentions the lack of interest of the many chemicals and contaminated catfish that has been imported and the terrible causes that this can carry. I agree with the author because he bases this important article in an investigative report from NBC “Today” in which emphasizes in detail the magnitude of this matter by explaining in more detail the way catfish has been treated. Moreover, Hager filed a billed and warned people from Texas and other states to care more about this issue by asking Catfish restaurant’s owners the safety of their food whether imported or domestic. Also, the way he points out this matter take my attention in a way that I will be more concern at the time of going to eat any imported fish.

The New Face of Texting

Now, with the advanced technology and the lack of communication with our teenagers, the entire world is facing a terrible situation that is going out of control. In the article “Give parents, authorities, teens tools to deal with sexting,” the author highlights the important issue that The State of Texas is going through. Sen. Kirk Watson is working on a bill to remit to the Legislature about the offense of sexting, in which parents and teenagers involve in this criminal offense will have to pay a fine up to $500.
Here, the author remarks the type of offenses that adults and teenagers will have to confront if Texas Government approves it. However, school districts are working on educating and preventing this important matter that became a problem in our society. Also, parents have been aware in getting more involved in their children lives and their use with cell phones.
It is important to keep in mind that if this new law is either approved or revoked, we have to pay more attention to our teenagers and increase our communication with them. In doing so, we will avoid unplanned pregnancy and other issues.
